Blog - Multi-factor authentication (MFA) at GBE brokers

Dear traders!

In order to increase the security of your account, we are introducing multi-factor authentication (MFA) for the customer portal (MyGBE) from Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

We would like to answer all your important questions directly in this blog post.

What is MFA?

MFA provides an additional layer of security by requiring a second step to verify your identity in addition to your password.

When is MFA required?

You need MFA:

  • when logging into the customer portal,
  • to make internal transfers,
  • and to request withdrawals.

How does MFA work?

When MFA is requested for the first time, you have the choice between two authentication methods. The chosen method can no longer be changed independently, but our support team can help you at any time.

  • Authenticator app
    • Use an app such as Google Authenticator.
    • Add a new login and scan the QR code that is displayed when you log in.
    • This will generate a code that is required for the initial setup.
  • Email authentication
    • You will receive a one-time passcode (OTP) to your registered e-mail address.
    • Please note that this OTP code is only valid for 2 minutes.

What should you do now?

No immediate action is required. If you prefer the app method, we recommend that you download an authentication app in advance. Instructions will be provided when you sign up after January 20, 2025.

Why MFA?

This change improves account security and ensures that only you can access your account and authorize transactions.
